Tessa Monroe just found out that her father survived the shipwreck that landed her on the Banshee where she met Nicholas Holladay. Now she and Nicholas decide to go to St. Kitts where Tessa can reunite with her father. But when they get there the perfect life Tessa imagined with all her favorite people isn't perfect. Three months on the high seas made her forget what society is like. Wear a corset, do your hair, all kinds of things that Tessa forgot how to do. Then Tessa meets a baron that falls head over heels for her, and now Nicholas's past life of piracy is not done with him. When all of this collides, confusion and hurt are thrown around until Tessa doesn't know which way is up.
This was a great sequel! Every romance author knows that there are three main parts in a love story: boy likes girl, boy hates girl, boy loves girl. This whole book was the boy hates girl section. And it was beautiful. The emotions ran high and palpable. You will find yourself wanting to yell at the characters to listen to each other, and then cheering when you felt they were coming around. There was no bottom to the grief, the anguish and love between Tessa and Nicholas. I was captivated the whole time and I am anxious for the next book ( Rebel Tide )!
I highly recommend this book, it was easily one of the best books I read all year! But first, read Oceanswept or Undertow will make almost no sense. But please read, they are fantastic books!
