Hey readers! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I read this book awhile ago, so my memory of it is not crystal clear, but I remember more than enough to do this post.
When Clay Jenson comes home from school a package with his name on it is sitting on the front porch. Inside the box he finds thirteen cassette tapes, recorded by his classmate and crush, Hannah Baker. Hannah also committed suicide two weeks earlier. When Clay plays the tapes Hannah tells him that each cassette tape tells one of the reasons Hannah killed herself, and if you received the package of tapes, you are one of the reasons. On one life changing night, Clay criss-crosses across town, visiting spots where Hannah had been and listening to her sad story.
I did not love this book. For one thing, it was sad, and eerie, and to haunting to be written into a book, I think. Another thing I didn't like was that the whole story was Clay listening to Hannah's tapes. There is very little action or dialogue outside of Clay's tapes, which makes the story kind of slow. The characters weren't very lively, and I had a hard time enjoying this book.
To sum it all up, this book was boring and sad, a terrible combination for a book. I hope you join me Wednesday for a new author bio!
