Good morning! Today I am reviewing Uglies by Scott Westerfield.
Tally Youngblood lives in a city where when you are 16 you are operated on and turned "pretty". Until 16, you are an "ugly". Tally is an ugly months away from turning pretty and her friend Paris just got his operation. Unable to see him, Tally meets Shay, a prank-pulling ugly like herself and they cause all sorts of mischief together. But when Shay runs off to a group of rebels called the Smoke living deep in the woods, the evil Dr. Cable proposes a deal: you go to the Smoke and tell us its' whereabouts or we will never turn you pretty. So Tally sets off on an adventurous and exciting journey to find the Smoke. When she gets there however, she falls in love with the lifestyle and the people. Most especially, David.
Five Reasons You Should Read This Book:
1. It is action packed, filled with adventure, adrenaline, excitement and humor.
2. There are many twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat with suspense.
3. The book has very different society views than we have today and it is interesting seeing how a future "utopias" views are different form our own, or how similar.
4. The characters are very well developed that show insight into their heads as well.
5. You'll be dying to read the next book after the awesome cliffhanger (by the way, the second book is really great, too).
