Hey guys! Is everyone out of school yet? How great does summer feel?! Anyway, I am reviewing the first book in the Matched Trilogy, Matched!
Cassia lives in a world where the Society controls everything. You die on your eightieth birthday, workouts are customized to push you, but you are never over-exerted. You read what they tell you to. You watch what they tell you to. You marry who they tell you to marry. Cassia is at her Matching Ceremony, where teens are told who they will live with for the rest of their life. On Cassia's turn, the screen shows her her friend, Xander. Then for a moment, the screen shows Ky. The Society tells Cassia that it was a rare glitch that happens every once in a while, but it is never right. Despite what the Society told Cassia about the glitch, Cassia slowly falls in love with Ky, and he with her. Cassia becomes uncertain. Should she embrace the Society's controllingness (if that is a word :) ) and marry Xander, or follow her true love across the forbidden and untrodden path.
I love future-istic stories that are set in dystopias that everyone thinks are utopias. This book was no exception. I really enjoyed it and found it sweet and funny. The characters were amazing and the writing beautiful! The plot was great with suspenseful rising action and I loved the different scenes that were so critical to such great story.
What I didn't like was the second book. I found it slow and boring and was unable to get into the second and third books. So if you read this book, I hope you can finish the series, which is something I have a tendency to not do! I hope to see you on Wednesday!
