Katie is new to the small town in North Carolina. She is quiet, reserved and tries not to get attached to anyone. Nobody knows who she is or where she came from. After a while, though, Katie starts forming relationships with her neighbor Jo and Alex, the storekeeper with two children, but a dead wife. Katie unwillingly begins to let her guard down, but she still reminds herself she isn't really safe here. Haunted by people of the past, Katie struggles to love Alex and his family, but she is still afraid she might have to leave. To be able to love Alex, Katie must face her fears and seek the only safe haven she has left.
I enjoyed this book very much. It has a bit of similarities to The Guardian, too. The story is suspenseful and well-written with characters that will stay with you. I loved how the point of view would switch occasionally because it would give you insight on what one person was doing or how another person felt about something. Another thing I liked was the story line and the climax. The story had great direction and the climax was so action-packed and suspenseful! If you haven't noticed, I LOVE suspenseful!
That is all I have for today! Come back on Friday to see a fresh new review!
