Good day to all of my readers! Today I am reviewing Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne.
An argument arises in a gentleman's club one night, concerning the amount of time it takes to travel around the world. Phileas Fogg bets his entire fortune that he could do it in eighty days. The next evening he sets off with his servant Passepartout to circumnavigate the world. His due date back is 8:45 P.M. December 21, 1872. As more and more obstacles arise on his journey, the probability of Fogg getting back to London on time becomes less and less favorable.
Jules Verne is and amazing author and he did not let me down on this book. The amount of urgency and adventure keeps this book very entertaining and interesting. Like many other Verne books, this one has vivid scenes, characters and does a fantastic job of bringing everything together.
I really enjoyed the adventurous side of the novel. There were feats that I did not expect a classic to have, yet all of Verne's books have such experiences. If you liked this book, I recommend all of his other ones. Every one of Verne's works has the same amount of excitement and discovery that blends into a creative and incredible novel.
Tomorrow I have to get some teeth pulled ( yikes!!!) so I may not be able to post Friday, but I will definitely try. But I will for sure be posting on Monday!
