Hey everybody! I finished this book about a week ago, so I still remember how great this book is! I also want to tell you that I will be traveling all through next week, so I will not be able to post until next Monday.
Lily is a fourteen year old, living on her father's peach plantation. Her mother was killed when Lily was young, and Lily has always longed for motherly love. When Rosaleen, Lily's black, "stand-in mother" offends the three most racist people in town, Lily decides to run away to Tiburon, South Carolina. Lily goes here not only to save Rosaleen from being arrested, but also because "Tiburon, South Carolina" is written onto the back of a painting that used to belong to Lily's mother. So Lily begins a hunt for the answers to her past, and along the way meets three eccentric beekeepers, that teach Lily love, loss and beekeeping. Join Lily on a wonderful adventure about the power of women.
This book was amazing. I loved the writing style, which was frank, and smooth. The story was original and emotional, with soaring highs and crushing lows, that add beautifully to the story. The characters too were very unique. I have never encountered a character that even remotely resembles any of the characters, or the three beekeepers, especially. The character traits are so fitting and incredible people. I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It is a perfect book to just curl up for an afternoon and read!
I hope you enjoyed today's post, because I had fun writing it! I will see you on Monday the 29!
