Hello! Before I go any further, this is NOT a self-help book (haha!), it is a mystery book! It was pretty interesting, so if you are interested, you can view the book here!
Arthur Koestler is found dead in his armchair along side his dead wife who is twenty-five years younger than him. In front of them are two empty wine glasses with traces of Tuinal (a heavy sedative) at the bottom. The police suspected a double-suicide, but Jack, the Court Coroner was skeptic. Why did young, healthy Cynthia decide to kill herself? But at the heart of this story is not a mystery, but a love story. Many of the characters like Jack, his co-worker Rita, Arthur’s daughter Kristie and Frankel, a journalist who idolizes Arthur. Each of them has their own love lives and problems and the mind games that come with falling in love.
This book had a great writing style that was easy to follow and fun to read. Although I liked the writing style, I didn’t love the story itself. Because it was the love lives of several people, it was pretty repetitive. Even the mystery aspect was repetitive because they don’t recover new evidence very quickly or spend a lot of time on it, so when they do talk about Arthur Koestler’s suicide, it is the same information reworded.
Overall, it was not a very exciting book, but I can see someone who loves mystery books really enjoying this! I hope you join me on Wednesday for a list of hilarious characters!
