Hey everyone! How’s the week starting off? I am excited to start this week off with a nice, easy Sparks novel, The Rescue. Let me tell you, this is a GREAT read and I loved it!
Taylor McAden is a volunteer fireman who is almost reckless in his need to make sure no child is fatherless. Taylor also can never be serious in relationships; unconfronted demons keep him from truly committing to a relationship. That changes when he finds young single mom Denise unconscious from a bad wreck in a storm. When Denise wakes up, her son with severe learning disabilities is missing. During the hunt for Denise’s son Kyle, Taylor and Denise form a connection that even Taylor can’t ignore.
One of the things that I love about Sparks as an author is that he is always changing his plot line. Sure they always slowly fall in love, are happy for a while, argue and break up, then get back together and get married. But Sparks always thoroughly develops his characters so that the story is always interesting and the different characteristics, goals, flaws, personalities and demons play a huge role in the story and Sparks is very good at keeping his stories different and neat.
A couple examples from the story is that Kyle is very behind in his language skills, Taylor’s father died in a fire and Denise works at a diner six nights a week to support her and her son. All of these things feed the plot and make each character amazing and lovable.
I know that isn’t a lot, but there is not much else to add other than I really liked it! A copy of the book is available here, and I hope to see you on Wednesday!
